The whole Bancroft family came together this past weekend on the Olympic Peninsula at daughter Carrie's comfortable and welcoming home in the woods of Chimicum, a small town just south of Port Townsend. Carrie and son Greg, age 10 and their small flock of chickens live in this lovely rural setting where we "camped" with daughter Emily, son in law Andy, and their son Connor age 8 and a half. We were joined on Sunday by Carrie's husband Phil, up from Seattle.
We spent our time walking the beach, playing laser tag at nearby Fort Warden, enjoying relaxing dinners chez Carrie, and getting in a few good family Settlers of Catan games. On Monday we drove down to Emily and Andy's lovely home on Bainbridge Island to see the transformation of their front yard, now nearly complete, thanks to heroic efforts by Andy.
Since we will now start east for the trip home, via a northern route, we took the time while at Emily's to restock, do a general clean up of Silverstreak and the Toureg. Now we were ready for Phase two of the trip! This morning we are setting off for Yakima and Coeur D'Alene, Idaho. Being with family was such a lovely interlude in the middle of our road trip. We are grateful that both families live within striking distance of each other and were able to fit us in their busy schedules!
